...It is a remarkable discovery as Alborea, also known as Franciscello, is considered by many to be the father of modern cello playing. Until now no compositions of his have been known. What is more, it is a good piece, worthy of performance. (...) The edition is mostly good. There is an explanatory preface, which I consider essential. The unfigured bass is sparsely written... most harpsichordists will be delighted to have the freedom to invent their own. (Angela East, ESTA Magazine Summer 08)

„The newly discovered sonata by Alborea is a very exciting addition to cellists‘ repertoire. The C major sonata is a fascinating piece, recalling J.S. Bach’s Suites for solo cello.”
