"I've been listening to Austrian composer Peter Androsch, or rather one work of his - Bellum docet Omnia - and it blew my mind"
"Gorgeous, haunting and visceral, Bellum is a musical response to the massacre of 400 Soviet prisoners which occured in February of 1945 in Mühlviertel, Austria. Not only does the music harness the funeral mood of such an event, but it ritualizes the work, situated in a church with a choir processing from outside the church to the altar throughout the course of performance. Androsch's instrumentation features a soprano, whose lyrical melody, floating through the church, taps into an ancient sensibility and a moving incantation. (...)"
